Qk4 has been selected to receive a Georgia Partnership for Transportation Quality Design Award for the East Lake Extension â?? Phase II, in Henry County, Georgia. This marks the 5th consecutive year that Qk4 has been a recipient of this prestigious award â?? the only firm in the state to be so honored. The award will be presented at the October 27th Transportation Summit Meeting at the Georgia World Congress Center.
Andy Ballerstedt was the Project Manager and Lead Engineer on the project. The client was Henry County, Georgia, and new road was the largest project in their local SPLOST program. The project also received federal funding and was coordinated through the Georgia DOT. The overall project (phase I and phase II) consisted of a new, 4-lane divided highway, on new location, for an approximated distance of three miles. Phase II opened to traffic in August, 2010.
