  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering.

Qk4 is seeking a Bridge Inspector to join our growing structural field services teams in one of our Kentucky offices.   • Assist in inspection efforts on our bridge inspection contracts with our DOT partners throughout the region.

  • Requires 5-10+ years of inspection experience on highway bridges and other transportation structures.
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering (preferred).

  • Bridge inspection experience (primarily with NBIS routine and fracture critical inspections).

Survey Party Chief

Qk4 is looking for Survey Party Chiefs in our Louisville or Frankfort, KY offices. If you are a motivated, experienced surveyor looking to level up your career, work alongside talented professionals using state-of-the-art equipment and technology to provide innovative client solutions, then connect with us today!

  • Taking direction from survey manager and implementing a work plan.
  • Outlines job assignment scope, tasks, and logistics with field crew.
  • Familiarity with Trimble surveying equipment including robotic total station and GNSS systems, digital level, and Trimble Access data collectors.
  • Familiarity and ability to find and locate field evidence for boundary surveys.
  • Demonstrating strong math skills involving geometry, trigonometry and other mathematical functions as required.
  • Providing data collection and management for topographical, roadway, bridge, utility and other surveys.
  • Creating accurate sketches and maintaining comprehensive written field notes.
  • Providing thorough and accurate data that meets required technical standards.
  • Responsible for direction, production, safety, and actions of field crew.
  • Provides quality assurance by reviewing field data, reports, and maps.

  • High school diploma
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • 3+ years of progressive land survey experience performing boundary, topographic and other surveys utilizing modern technology.
  • Ability to work outdoor in all seasons.
  • Meet physical requirements of the job including climbing, walking long distances in various terrain, sitting, standing bending while operating survey equipment. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Land Survey Field Technician

Office Location: Louisville, KY

In this role, you’ll assist field staff with survey activities while gaining hands-on experience with the latest equipment and technology.   • Sets up, adjusts, operates, inspects surveying equipment, including electronic total station, data collector to measure distances, elevations, angles, and other data for collection purposes.
  • Processes data from manual or electronic field books.
  • Performs basic field calculations of horizontal and vertical geometry of roadways under supervision.
  • Retraces or surveys boundary lines under supervision.
  • Performs calculations for construction stakeout for review.
  • Assists in researching existing record information, including record maps, plans, deeds, easements, and right-of-way documents; and maintain field data record.

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to read and understand various types of documents and operate instruments to provide accurate information.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work varying schedules, including out of town, overnight travel.
  • Work environment is outdoors and potentially rough terrain, and requires ability to walk, sit and stand while operating survey equipment.
