WELCOME
Emery Sayre
My greatest strength is my curiosity and eagerness to continue learning. I am always seeking new knowledge and skills to improve myself, and I hope to share my newfound knowledge with others and teach them as well.
Meet Emery Sayre, the newest addition to Qk4’s Frankfort Survey Team. With over 21 years of experience in the engineering field, Emery brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role. Although most of his engineering work has been in states further south, such as Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Georgia, Emery grew up in rural Franklin County, not far from the Switzer Covered Bridge.
Emery attended college out of state on an academic scholarship and graduated from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Since then, he has worked on various construction, repair, inspection, and design projects for bridges and other structures, gaining valuable insights from multiple vantage points as an employee of contractors, consultants, and owners (state, federal, and local).
Emery’s fascination with transportation, construction, mathematics, and physics, coupled with his desire to serve the greater good, led him to pursue a career in engineering. As a child, he had a keen interest in architecture, cartography, and a combination of things that he would later come to realize was essentially civil engineering. Interestingly, one of his uncles had a long career with KYTC as a cartographer, and his name appears on the state highway map from the late 1960s into the early 1990s.
Emery’s favorite part of working as an engineer is seeing his projects come to fruition, whether it’s through construction, repair, or maintenance, and knowing that they serve a greater purpose in keeping the travelling public safe. His decision to join Qk4 was influenced by the family-like culture and the company’s flexibility with a hybrid work approach, which Qk4 has been practicing long before the pandemic.
When not at work, Emery spends time with his young family, engaging in various activities centered around family time. He also enjoys playing vintage video games or board games with his kids whenever he gets the chance.
