Qk4 was awarded the design of a 7 mile section of WV 9 from just east of Martinsburg towards Charlestown in 1994. Environmental issues in the historical area(s) within and adjacent to this project and the adjoining section significantly delayed implementation – project is in WV eastern panhandle some 60 miles east of Washington DC and only a few miles from the Shenandoah Valley, Harpers Ferry, Revolutionary and Civil War Battle sites, etc.
The now completed 7 mile, 4-lane freeway type section includes two interchanges, 8 bridges and a multiuse trail; it truly is a tremendous facility that is providing an improved quality of life for its users.
